Indianapolis Takes Center Stage

In just over 2 months 16 guys will travel to their 7th Ryder Cup and first in the state of Indiana. Indianapolis, Indiana won the rights to host, edging fan favorite Wisconsin Dells amongst other prestigious locations. This marks the third state to host the event and the locals couldn't be more thrilled about it. "We take a lot of pride in the Indianapolis 500 but now that that is over, we have turned our focus to the highlight of our summer, The Ryder Cup." Indianapolis Mayor was recently quoted saying.

Although this will be the first time these 16 golfers will contend for the Cup in Indianapolis, it certainly isn't the first time they have visited. After one notable trip a few years back, one left with a black eye while two others left with a criminal record. Let's hope, for their sake, history doesn't repeat itself.

Indianapolis does offer some unrivaled golf and nightlife combinations. The first course the golfers will compete at is Brickyard Crossing which offers three holes INSIDE the Indy 500 track. Saturday they will battle it out at Indianapolis Country Club. When they aren't inside the ropes the players will sit back and enjoy a host of fun bars and especially notable is a basement speak easy cigar bar.

Kevin Jones will take the reigns as captain of USA while Ben Thomas, who recently moved to Arizona to work on his golf game year round, will captain Europe.

Jones won the coin flip, and in an unprecedented move, has already announced he has selected Jeff Berenz as his Number 1 pick. Fans seem to like this no nonsense approach Jones as taken, we'll see if it pans out come July. Ben Thomas is now on the clock for pick number 2. Stay tuned...
